Hello, my name is Michael Erickson. Currently I am a senior meteorology student at Western Connecticut State University. I also been an employee at the WestConn Weather Center since July 1999 where I have gained a good deal of my forecasting experience. As an employee, my job is to prepare forecasts and other weather related information for several local papers including the Hartford Courant and New Haven Register. However, my experience with the weather center goes back to the summer of 1997 when I was a student intern during my high school days.
In 2001, I became president of the meteorology club. That was an exciting time for me. I was in charge of planning weather related trips to various locations. In addition I am also a member of the American Meteorological Society, Skywarn, the American Radio Relay League, and am also a licensed ham radio operator (call sign KB1IJV).
I also enjoy studying weather in my free time. Whenever severe weather develops close by, I go out with a few weather fanatics like myself and chase storms. I constantly look forward to extreme weather, with my favorite type of weather being snow storms. When I am not doing something related to weather, I am either spending time with friends, playing tennis, doing homework, or sleeping.
